How To Make Self-Raising Flour At Home
As a professional baker Self-raising flour is something we never use but
I do realise home baking recipes almost always call for this. I also know
that in some parts of the world Self-raising flour is not easy to find, although
it is available in certain shops who specialise in imported foods (in Spain
it is available in Mercadona Supermarkets).
What is Self Raising Flour?
Self-Raising flour is simply ordinary plain flour with baking powder added.
One disadvantage of buying self-raising flour is that if you don’t use it regularly
it loses it’s leavening properties which results in a sad looking cake.
Or it could be it has been on the shop shelf for a long time and also not so effective.

Make sure you buy ‘HARINA de TRIGO’ and not the stuff for coating fish, etc.
for frying as they contain semolina and that prevents anything from rising in the oven.
