Best Buttery Rice Ever

I realise plain white rice either boiled or steamed has it’s place, however, just by adding some seasoning and a dollop of butter your rice is transformed into something really special.

Ingredients

  • 400 g white rice
  • (815 ml cold water
  • 2 chicken stock cubes or two tsp powdered / granulated stock
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • 2 tbsp dried parsley * optional
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

DISCLAIMER

I recommend using the Metric measurements (instead of cups & spoons) for more accuracy and better results.

Instructions

  • Place all Rice ingredients in a large saucepan and give it a stir, making sure your stock cubes are dissolved.
  • Bring to boil and then turn down to low rippling simmer, put the lid on and cook for 13 minutes.
  • do not lift lid during this time.
  • Then take a quick look to make sure all the water has been absorbed.
  • Remove from heat and let it rest for a further 10 minutes with the lid on.
  • Now add the butter ( as much as you like) and fluff up the rice with a fork or rubber spatula. Serve!
Paul's Tips
Storage: Cool rice rapidly - either tip out into large bowl, or for super big batches, spread out on tray. Refrigerate or freeze within 1.5 hrs. of cooking, 4 days in fridge, 3 months in freezer. Reheat in microwave loosely covered with sprinkle of water (to moisten), can reheat from frozen if in shallow containers. Rice reheats quickly in microwave, 2 - 3 minutes on high is more than enough.
You can serve this with anything such as Roast Chicken, Pork Chops, Spare Ribs, Etc.
