200gWarm waterweighing the water is far more accurate than using a measuring jug.

Food mixer
Heavy baseFrying pan or Griddle (non-stick if you have one) heat to about 190ºC
Metal rings. These do not have to be special crumpet rings, I use pastry cutters¡cookie cutters. You can even use different shapes if you wish, I sometimes use hearts, etc, for parties.
IMPORTANT Butter the inside of the rings well and the base of the pan very lightly.Remove the rings after about 3 mins. leave crumpets in pan until the top is no longer wet, this should take about another 5 - 6 minutes. Then flip over for a few seconds to make sure the top is dry.Toast them for breakfast or afternoon tea, with butter and jam, or scrambled/poached eggs.
